1. Each member is encouraged to keep his/her knowledge and skill refreshed by continued education through his/her professional life. Each member is encouraged to attend a State or National seminar at least every 3 years.
2. Members shall use only medically proven permanent hair removal devices and methods as recognized by the Food & Drug Administration, and shall refrain from using any device or method disapproved by the TAHRS
3. Members are forbidden to practice any of the healing arts not included within the practice of electrolysis unless he/she has been duly qualified for same.
4. Members shall maintain professional standards of personal conduct, honesty, integrity and dedication to service.
5. Members shall hold all information pertaining to clients in the strictest confidence.
6. Any member found guilty of malpractice shall be expelled from TAHRS membership pending review by a panel of peers.
7. Member shall not include in advertising any claim regarding the number of hairs that can be removed in any time period, make false, fraudulent or misleading statements through the press, circulating advertising material, radio, television, display sign or otherwise.
8. Members shall refrain from making derogatory remarks concerning another member or electrologist.
9. Member may not acknowledge past or present officer position in advertising.
10. Member who engage in the instruction of electrolysis shall adhere to all state, national and local regulations regarding the establishment and operation of schools.
11. Members who are licensed or certified and use this information in advertising must identify source of licensing or certification. Members may not use the term "Certified" or "Licensed" unless so qualified by a legitimate state or national certification or licensing agency.
12. Members who use association membership in advertising must have current paid-up status in said association.
13. Members must provide information to show that an acceptable method of sterilization is used in their practice. The Center for Disease Control's recommended methods are:
Autoclave
Dry Heat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour.
Liquid solution such as glutaraldehyde with extreme caution.
NOTE: LIQUID SOLUTION IS THE LEAST DESIRABLE METHOD OF STERILIZATION, GLASS BEAD STERILIZERS ARE NOT AN ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF STERILIZATION.
14. Sanitation policy shall be:
Must have a sink with hot and cold running water.
Wash hands before and after every treatment using liquid soap from dispenser.
Clean treatment table between treatments or use clean cover after each treatment.
Do not treat clients who have open lesions on the area requiring treatment.
Sanitize towels and linens.
Provide a suitable waste container in treatment room.
15. Members are encouraged to become nationally certified.
16. Members are encouraged to carry malpractice insurance.
